Middle and High School Programs

"Survival 101: A Student's Guide to Staying Alive"

This is a dynamic, multi- media presentation geared toward middle and high school students. This program covers crash dynamics, seat belt usage (particularly among teens), distracted and drowsy driving, aggressive driving, speeding and impaired driving characteristics. The use of electronic hand held devices and texting while driving is also discussed
during the presentation. Slides of deceased individuals are displayed throughout the program, which are quite graphic in nature, and are used to illustrate how one bad choice behind the wheel can ultimately lead to devastating consequences. Each session is led by a police officer or state trooper with first-hand experience of how a serious crash can affect a
family and community. Survival 101 is a personal program, tailor-made for today’s teenager. The entire program lasts approximately 35-45 minutes.

Survival 101 can be an important addition to any school safety curriculum and can coincide with holidays, dances and other special events. The program works in conjunction with Bryn Mawr Rehab Crusin' Smart to offer a Victim Impact Speaker. The program includes first-hand accounts from survivors of motor vehicle accidents that happened because someone was driving recklessly, driving while distracted, or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

"Impact teen Driver"

Reckless and distracted driving is the # 1 killer of teens in America. This deadly epidemic claims the lives of 4,000 teens each year, and seriously injures 400,000 more. The most frustrating aspect of this public health crisis is that it is completely preventable with a combination of quality education, training, and enforcement. The ultimate goal is to save lives by changing attitudes and behaviors that become lethal behind the wheel of a car. The Impact Teen Drivers program is evidence-based, cost-effective, and reaches teens with engaging educational videos, interactive materials, and high-energy presentations and discussions. Teens are moving targets, and Impact Teen Drivers continually provides teen-centric campaigns, contests to get teens to share the safe driving message with their peers, innovative web content, and a strong social media presence.

The Impact Teen Drivers program delivers high energy presentations focused on the dangers of reckless and distracted driving. Participants will learn about reckless and distracted driving research and statistics, Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) laws, the "What do You Consider Lethal?" campaign, and how to effectively communicate the essentials of safe driving to teens, parents, and members of their communities.
